MAK: know where every team member is, with or without a signal.

The Metis Asset Kit is a turnkey blue-force tracking and command-and-control kit for search and rescue teams and public safety agencies. It deploys out of a case and keeps working when cellular service fails.

What is in the kit

Three parts that work together, and none that needs an IT department.

The Puck
A rugged, vehicle-mounted edge server. It creates its own local network at the command post and hosts the offline maps.
Mesh radios
Body-worn, long-range mesh radios, each with its own GPS. They carry positions when phones have no signal.
Phone apps
Apps for iPhone and Android that show the team on a map and keep recording positions when disconnected.

Three ways to stay connected

MAK is built on three layers of communication, so losing one link does not mean losing the picture.

Cellular is used when there is coverage. At the command post, the Puck's local network takes over. When everything else is down, the long-range mesh radio network keeps positions moving.

MAK is built so positions are not lost: a phone that loses every link stores its positions and delivers them, newest first, when a connection returns.

Example: a team beyond cell coverage
  1. Cellular Beyond coverage This team is past cell range, so phones are not using a tower.
  2. Command post network Back at the truck The Puck's local network stays at the command post. This team has moved on.
  3. Long-range mesh radio Carrying positions Body-worn radios with their own GPS, for when everything else is down.

Maps that need no internet

The maps live on the Puck and on the phones.

A team working beyond coverage still has the map. Nothing has to be downloaded at the moment it is needed.

No IT project

  • No servers to administer.
  • No certificates to issue or renew.
  • No subscription required for offline operation. Paid support and updates are optional.

Where MAK stands

MAK is in active development and field testing. It is not yet available for general purchase.

We will describe what MAK does when it does it. Until then this page stays short on specifications, because they can still change.

Pilot and pricing

Contact us for pilot and pricing information.

We are taking pilot program inquiries from search and rescue teams and public safety agencies. It helps if your message covers:

  • What kind of team or agency you are.
  • Roughly how many people you need to track.
  • The terrain and coverage problems you deal with.
  • Your timeline.

Please leave out sensitive operational details. The button opens a ready-made message in your own email app.

If you are an individual officer or field worker keeping your own time, see what Timekeeper does.
